What Year is ‘Stranger Things’ Set in? [ VIDEO ]
My wife and I just finished watching Stranger Things, on Netflix, on Friday. We both enjoyed and are excited hear that season two is coming out next year.
The adventure continues. Stranger Things 2 is coming to Netflix 2017.
That said, I did have a problem with the series and it has nothing to do with the CollegeHumor video presented above. In fact, my problem with this series is that Hollywood will misunderstand what made this series great. James Gunn articulated this point on Facebook, back in February, when talking about what made Deadpool awesome. Now I am worried they will think that nostalgia is what made this show great.
Sure, being set in a believable 1980s environment that did not go out of its way to say “Hey! This is the ’80s!” was really cool, but that isn’t what made the series great. Accumulation of writing, acting, visuals, and directing is what made this series brilliant. When it took place was merely a set piece, mind you a very well done set piece.
Nonetheless, excited to see Stranger Things 2 which will probably arrive in the latter part of 2017.
