I never knew that Stanley the bugman, from Donkey Kong 3, was actually Mario. Who knew?
Okay… Mario did replace Stanley in the Game Boy Advance version of Game & Watch Gallery 4. But in the original version of Donkey Kong 3, that was referenced in the video, was not Mario.
Fun and informative retrospective on the evolution of Mario, nonetheless.
